Oceola Community Center Gym Courts Calendar

UPDATE REGARDING STREET SHOES:

Fall and winter weather brings all sorts of rain, mud, snow and salt that can damage the gymnasium floors. Street shoes are not permitted when using the courts. Please bring an extra pair of shoes to wear when using the gym space at the Oceola Community Center. Thanks for your understanding and patience!

ADULT CLINICS / CAMPS

 

Pickleball Skills Clinic 2 (Skill Level 1.0-2.5)

Thursdays, March 5th-April 9th - 4:30pm-6:30pm

Prerequisite – Pickleball Level 1 or Equivalent Play

Join Coach Josh and Coach Terry for 6 weeks to spruce up your skills! This course is designed for 24 advanced beginners/intermediate players looking to improve their techniques and tricks for pickleball! Courts open at 4:30PM for free play! 

  • More intense instruction than learned in Pickleball 1

  • Introduction to 3rd shot drop

  • Footwork

  • Slow play vs fast play

  • Placement of shots

  • Working with your partner

  • Suggest skills to work on

Registration opens January 21st. Deadline to register is March 3rd.

Cost: $80 (Resident) | $100 (Non-Resident)

Pickleball Skills Clinic 3 (Skill Level 3.0-3.5 PLUS)

Thursdays, March 5th-April 9th - 6:30pm-8:00pm

Prerequisite – Pickleball Level 3.0 or Equivalent Play

Join Coach Terry for 6 weeks to master your skills! This course is designed for 24 advanced players looking to improve their techniques and over all playing. 

  • More intense instruction than learned in Pickleball 2

  • Strategy: Positioning, footwork, pattern recognition & owning the line

  • Technique:  Mastering 3rd shot drop, dinking skills, overhead smash, lobs and more

  • Patience in play

  • Playing your opponent

  • Mixing up your shots

  • Suggest skills to work on

Registration Opens January 21st. Registration Deadline March 3rd

YOUTH CLINICS / CAMPS

 

Karate for Kids (Ages 4-14)

Tuesdays, February 3rd-March 10th - 6:00pm-7:00pm
Thursdays, February 5th-March 12th - 6:00pm-7:00pm

This program combines two crucial courses into one, Sanchin-Ryu Karate & Self-Defense and Project: Secure Child (child safety).

Students will be trained with proven, age-appropriate techniques that are necessary for kids to protect themselves from attackers. This program is set in a fun yet structured, environment which will give your child a positive outlook on learning a martial art. Participants will achieve great self confidence and leadership through the physical techniques, mental strategies, drills and exercises they are lead through.

Uniforms are available, but not required.

Karate for Families (Ages 4 & Up)

Tuesdays, February 3rd-March 10th - 7:00pm-8:00pm
Thursdays, February 5th-March 12th - 7:00pm-8:00pm

A parent and child program for all ages! You must register each family member. Set in a fun, non-competitive and informative atmosphere, this program allows parents to learn alongside their children. Physical techniques will be instructed along with drills and exercises, to help you have a positive experience with your self defense education. Sanchin-Ryu will teach you how to use your whole body, rather than just certain muscle groups, so size and stature are not an issue. 

Uniforms are available, but not required.

Spring Youth Tennis

Ages 5-10 - Tuesdays, April 21st - May 26th - 6:15pm-7:15pm
Ages 11-17 - Tuesdays, April 21st - May 26th - 7:15pm-8:15pm

Learn to play Tennis is this clinic from USTA and Howell Recreation. Late registration for USTA Clinic: Howell Recreation Youth Tennis in partner with USTA. No equipment included. 

Registration opens in February 2026. Late Registration Opens March 4th.
