UPDATE REGARDING STREET SHOES:

Fall and winter weather brings all sorts of rain, mud, snow and salt that can damage the gymnasium floors. Street shoes are not permitted when using the courts. Please bring an extra pair of shoes to wear when using the gym space at the Oceola Community Center. Thanks for your understanding and patience!

ADULT CLINICS / CAMPS

 

Adult Summer Tennis Clinic (18+)

This class teaches the basic skills of tennis and is ideal for adults who have never played tennis or those getting back into the game after a long hiatus. This class is also designed for players with a basic knowledge of tennis looking to improve their skills.

Please bring a appropriate pair of shoes, water bottle and racket if you have one- few will be available on site. Porta-Potty on site.

YOUTH CLINICS / CAMPS

 

Karate for Kids (Ages 4-14)

This program combines two crucial courses into one, Sanchin-Ryu Karate & Self-Defense and Project: Secure Child (child safety).

Students will be trained with proven, age-appropriate techniques that are necessary for kids to protect themselves from attackers. This program is set in a fun yet structured, environment which will give your child a positive outlook on learning a martial art. Participants will achieve great self confidence and leadership through the physical techniques, mental strategies, drills and exercises they are lead through.

Uniforms are available, but not required.

Karate for Families (Ages 4 & Up)

A parent and child program for all ages! You must register each family member. Set in a fun, non-competitive and informative atmosphere, this program allows parents to learn alongside their children. Physical techniques will be instructed along with drills and exercises, to help you have a positive experience with your self defense education. Sanchin-Ryu will teach you how to use your whole body, rather than just certain muscle groups, so size and stature are not an issue. 

Uniforms are available, but not required.

GRIT - Big Man Clinic (5th–8th Grade)

This 8-week clinic is designed specifically for 5th–8th grade athletes looking to develop their skills on the offensive and defensive line. Whether you're a seasoned lineman or just starting out, this program will focus on the fundamentals—stance, footwork, hand placement, leverage, and blocking techniques—through high-energy drills and position-specific coaching.

Led by experienced coaches, each session emphasizes strength, technique, discipline, and football IQ to prepare players for success in the trenches. Join us this spring to get stronger, faster, and more confident on the line!

Clinic will be outdoors. Please wear comfortable attire and bring Cleats and a water bottle. 

Deadline to register is April 18th.

Summer Youth Tennis Camp

Join us at the Bennett Rec Center Tennis Courts for 1 week of tennis fun! This is a great introduction to the sport of tennis for kids 5-17.

Tennis provides numerous benefits beyond good health and activity. Kids learn teamwork, communication, balance, agility, hand-eye coordination, problem- solving and self-reliance, all while having fun and making friends. Midwest Youth Team Tennis uses smaller courts, shorter racquets and lower bouncing balls, so youth players will achieve greater physical activity and feel successful at tennis from the start. NO racquet, no problem, USTA will provide one along with a participation gift.

Includes a team t-shirt, age-appropriate tennis racquet, and a player gift!

Co-ed Youth Volleyball Camp (3rd-5th Grade)

Ready to bump, set, and spike your skills to the next level?! Join us for an action-packed 3 days of volleyball fun, where players can learn, grow, and unleash their inner champion with Howell Recreation!

Coach Nikki will lead dynamic drills, interactive games, and exciting challenges to sharpen your technique, boost your confidence, and ignite your passion for the game!

Whether your athlete is a beginner looking to master the basics or a seasoned player aiming to sharpen their skills, our camp offers something for everyone! Plus, make new friends, build teamwork, and create lasting memories along the way!

GRIT: “Road Graders" Offensive Line Camp (3rd-8th Grade)

Join Howell Recreation as we partner with Howell High School's offensive lineman and coordinator for 3 intense days of offensive lineman training!

This is a camp specialized on developing run-blocking, pass-blocking, and over all techniques for the heart and soul of every great team - THE O-LINE. Athletes will have the opportunity to build strong mental cues and habits that will follow them into their next season.

This just isn't a camp...The Lineman Olympics will put players skills to the test with strength, agility and technique challenges to prove WHO'S KING OF THE TRENCHES!

All grades will report to the Oceola Soccer Complex from 9:00am-11:00am Please wear comfortable attire, cleats and bring a water bottle.

Looking to keep your kids busy one summer week night while developing soccer skills this summer? This camp offers soccer players of all levels the opportunity to develop skills, tactics and their overall knowledge of the game.

Howell Rec's Youth Soccer summer camp provides a fun environment for players to learn new soccer skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, etc.), play games and make friends!

Looking to keep your daughter busy this summer and improve their basketball skills this summer? This camp offers girls basketball players of all levels the opportunity to develop skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, etc.), tactics, and their overall knowledge of the game.

The camp will be run by the Cleary University Girls Assistant Coach, basketball coaching staff and girls basketball players.

Co-ed Youth Lacrosse Camp (Ages 5-13)

This Youth Lacrosse Camp will teach you shooting, dodging and skill development. Become more confident with your sticks and gain understanding of when and how to dodge successfully. This clinic is geared toward beginner to intermediate experience in all youth age groups.
