UPDATE REGARDING STREET SHOES:

Fall and winter weather brings all sorts of rain, mud, snow and salt that can damage the gymnasium floors. Street shoes are not permitted when using the courts. Please bring an extra pair of shoes to wear when using the gym space at the Oceola Community Center. Thanks for your understanding and patience!

About Howell Recreation Youth Sports

The Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority’s Youth Sports Program is designed to allow youth the opportunity to participate in various sporting activities in a non-competitive environment.  All athletes get an equal amount of attention and playing time regardless of ability.  All programs are first-come, first-served. Programs can fill to capacity before the deadline. Random placement determines all teams.  A $10 late fee will be applied to all late registrations based on availability.

Vouchers for $35 will be given to Youth Sports volunteer coaches in good standing at the end of the season. 

Adult Summer Co-ed Soccer League (18+)

Join Howell Recreation in our first Adult 4v4 Soccer League! Gather with your friends for some friendly competition for six Fridays this summer! This

Co-Ed league will be self officiated, pickup style soccer. Teams are capped at 7 players (including substitutes). View a full list of rules online.

Registration Opens 4/9/25.

Adult Summer Co-ed Softball League (18+)

Welcome to Howell Recreation Summer Softball League! Get your team of friends together and get ready to play some ball this summer. 8-14 Players per Team. You must play with at least an equal number of women as men on field. Each team is required to pay Umpire $20 per team/per game at the field each week.

Registration Opens: 4/9/25.

Site: Howell High School PE Field, 1200 W. Grand River Rd.
Cost: $500/team (Resident) / $600/team (Non-Resident)
*No Games 6/29 & 7/6.

Pints & Pickles Summer Pickleball League (21+)

Pints & Pickles is a great opportunity for you and your 21+ friends to get active on our pickleball courts and reward yourself with a fresh pint during play time! This league will be self officiated and self evaluated. YOU will decide what level you are and in turn what court you will be on. Each person will sign up as an individual, pairs will not be assigned or registered. As this is a recreational no score league, we encourage all participant to play with someone new every time. There will be no instructions of pickleball from staff- come ready to play and meet new people! Each participant will receive a t-shirt!

Courts will be open from 5:00pm-6:45pm. A 40 participant cap will ensure all players will be able to play the maximum amount of pickleball while utilizing all 6 courts.

**BYOB- With special permission from the Executive Director, beer and wine will be allowed for this league only in limited quantities**

Summer Sizzle Pickleball Tournament (All Ages)

Grab a friend and join us for some friendly pickleball competition and a chance to win some sweet prizes. The tournament will be for 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 skill levels and open to mixed, women's and men. Only ONE member of your team needs to register. Games will begin promptly at 9:00am and follow suit 15 minutes after.

Guaranteed Number of 3 Matches: 3 matches guaranteed. Please see tournament format below.

Officials: Medal matches will be officiated. During pool play, site supervisors will be on the floor over seeing all courts.

Tournament Format:

  • Pool Play - round robin - best to 11, win by 2

  • Pools of 4 team, top team from each pool will advance to tournament play

  • Tournament play bracket- best to 11, win by 2

  • Championship match - best to 2 out of 3, first to 11, win by 2

  • Medals will be distributed to all first, second and third place teams for the 2.5-4.0 group

  • Please ensure you bring your own paddle, change of flat, clean tennis shoes and don't forget to dress to impress!

Adult Cornhole League (21+)

Howell Recreation's 21+ Adult Cornhole League is a chance for your team of two to show off your cornhole skills in a fun and friendly competitive environment.

Enjoy a six-week-long adults-only cornhole league. The first five weeks will be regular league play allowing each team to play four games each week. Each week, your team's score will be totaled to determine your placement the following week, ensuring you're playing teams of similar skill levels. The sixth week will feature a double-elimination tournament to see which team will come out on top. With special permission from the Executive Director, beer and wine will be allowed for this league only in limited quantities.

YOUTH LEAGUES

 

Youth Fall Soccer League (Ages 3-14)

Come play soccer with us this fall! This is our most popular program and spots fill up quickly so be sure to sign up early to reserve your spot!

Ages 5-14 Teams will practice 1 day a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday), for one hour (between 5:30-7:30 PM) and have 1 scheduled game on Saturdays between 9 AM- 12 PM (depending on # teams). This is a co-ed league.

3-4 Age group will not have a practice and will play on SATURDAYS ONLY.

Fall Girls Basketball League (1st-8th Grade)

Join us for an exciting season of basketball! The Howell Youth Basketball League is designed for beginner and intermediate players in 1st-8th grades.

Practices will be held once per week on Monday or Tuesday from 6:00-8:00pm.
Games will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Registration Opens: 7/2/25.
