About Howell Recreation Youth Sports
The Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority’s Youth Sports Program is designed to allow youth the opportunity to participate in various sporting activities in a non-competitive environment. All athletes get an equal amount of attention and playing time regardless of ability. All programs are first-come, first-served. Programs can fill to capacity before the deadline. Teams are formed based off registration details: practice day preference, time preference, coach, etc.
Please note: Any teams without a coach (teams titled Coach *NEEDED*) at the close of registration will be merged into existing teams, which may increase roster sizes.

Oceola Community Center Gym Courts Calendar
UPDATE REGARDING STREET SHOES:
Fall and winter weather brings all sorts of rain, mud, snow and salt that can damage the gymnasium floors. Street shoes are not permitted when using the courts. Please bring an extra pair of shoes to wear when using the gym space at the Oceola Community Center. Thanks for your understanding and patience!

ADULT LEAGUES
Adult Kickball League (Ages 18 & Up)
Thursdays, June 11th - July 23rd - 6:00pm-9:00pm
Looking for a fun way to stay active and meet new people? Join our Adult 18+ Kickball League with Howell Recreation—happening Thursday evening! Whether you're a seasoned player or brand new to the game, beginners are absolutely welcome. It’s all about having fun, getting outside, and enjoying some friendly competition. Only ONE Team members needs to register for this league!

Women’s Volleyball League (Ages 18 & Up)
Wednesdays, June 17th - August 5th - 7:00pm-10:00pm
The Howell Recreation Women's Volleyball League features players 18 years of age and older; we will play at the Oceola Community Center.
Until further notice: Games will be self-officiated. Please note- any change in time or schedule will be addressed prior to season.
Registration opens April 29th. Deadline to register is May 30th.
Cost: $325/team (Resident) | $400/team (Non-Resident)

Co-Ed Volleyball League (Ages 18 & Up)
Wednesdays, June 17th - August 5th - 7:00pm-10:00pm
The Howell Recreation Co-Ed Volleyball League features players 18 years of age and older; we will play at the Oceola Community Center.
Until further notice: Games will be self-officiated
CO-ED SPECIFIC RULES
Co-Ed ball may be hit directly across by either male or female team members but if there is more than one hit, a female must touch the ball before it goes over.
Co-Ed Inter-Change is allowed. Back row male may block but not attack.
Co-Ed Leagues – if your team contacts the ball more than once (after the block) to send it over the net, a female must contact the ball.
Teams will consist of a maximum of 6 players (3 men and 3 women) to a minimum of 3 players. You can have more women than men playing on the court but there is a maximum of 3 male players.
Registration opens April 29th. Deadline to register is May 30th.

Adult Co-Ed Summer Soccer League (Ages 18 & Up)
Fridays, June 19th - August 7th - 6:00pm-8:00pm
Welcome to the 4v4 Summer Adult Soccer League! This league is designed for adults looking for a fun, competitive, and social soccer experience throughout the summer.
Ref Fee: Each team is responsible for paying the Ref $20 cash per game.
Roster Size: Minimum 4 players | Maximum 10 players
Recommended Roster: 8 players per team
One player will register as the Team Captain and complete team payment. Team captains are responsible for submitting the final roster prior to the first game. All players must complete the participation waiver before playing. Schedules will be released prior to the season start date. Games will be played rain or shine unless deemed unsafe by league staff.
League Format: Small-sided 4v4 games. Fast-paced play with rotating game schedules. Recreational and competitive atmosphere focused on fun and sportsmanship
Registration opens April 22nd. Deadline to register is May 22nd.
Cost: $400/team (Resident) | $500/team (Non-Resident)

Summer Sizzler Pickleball Tournament (open to Ages 18 & Up) (Skill Levels 2.5-3.5)
Saturday, July 18th - 8:00am-8:00pm
BEAT THE HEAT: Pickleball is Taking Over the Oceola Community Center!
The 2026 Summer Sizzler Pickleball Tournament presented by Howell Recreation is here!. Grab a friend and join us for some friendly competition and a chance to win some sweet prizes. This will be open to 8 teams, level play 2.5-3.5, open to mixed, women's and men. Only ONE member of your team needs to register.
Guaranteed Number of 3 Matches: 3 matches guaranteed. Please see tournament format below.
Officials: Medal matches will be officiated. During pool play, the site supervisor will be on the floor over seeing all courts.
Tournament Format:
Pool Play - round robin - best to 11, win by 2
Pools of 4 team, top team from each pool will advance to tournament play
Tournament play bracket- best to 11, win by 2
Championship match - best to 2 out of 3, first to 11, win by 2
Medals will be distributed to all first, second and third place teams
Please ensure you bring your own paddle, change of flat, clean tennis shoes and don't forget to dress to impress!

Co-Ed Youth Fall Soccer League (Ages 3-14)
Registration Opens on Wednesday, May 20th at 8am.
League Runs: August 17th - October 10th
First Practice: Week of August 17th - 6:00pm-8:00pm
First Game: August 29th
Last Game: October 10th

Co-Ed Fall Soccer U4 (Ages 3-4)
Each 3-4 team will be scheduled a one-hour time slot on Saturday mornings. During this hour, the first 30 minute will be spent practicing, followed by a 30 minute game against the team you will share the field with. THERE IS NO WEEKDAY PRACTICE FOR 3/4 Y.O.
4 v 4 Soccer with no goalies! Jersey included. Size #3 soccer ball and shin guards required.
Cost: $61/player (Resident) | $90/player (Non-Resident)

Teams will practice for one hour, once a week. Games will be Saturday mornings.

Fall Basketball
Girl's Basketball League (1st-8th Grade)
Monday-Thursday, August 24th-October 8th - 6pm-8pm
Monday/Tuesday Practices With Thursday Games - 6pm-8pm
This Recreational league is a great resource for young athletes looking to grow in the sport of Basketball. The Howell Youth Basketball League is designed for beginner and intermediate players.
Practices will be held once per week on Monday or Tuesday from 6-8pm.
Games will be held on Thursday evenings from 6pm - 8pm.
Coaching Volunteers Needed: Our league thrives with the support of Parent Volunteer Coaches. We truly appreciate all the time and effort our coaches dedicate, and we would love for you to get involved! Coaches receive a coach’s t-shirt and a credit at the end of the season for their hard work.
When: First Practice: Week of August 24th
First Game: September 3rd
No practices: August 7th
What You'll Need: Clean tennis shoes. Refillable water bottle. Comfortable athletic clothing. Size 5 (27.5') basketball (with your name on it) NOTE: Basketballs will be provided at practices and games. All players will receive a reversible jersey with registration.

48 participants MAX starting out (6 teams). League will consist of 6 week, practice about 30 minutes, play about 30 minutes. Non-contact, recreation league. Required equipment includes a mouth guard.
