New Registration System For Weekly Fitness Classes

We are excited to announce we will now be using GroupEx Pro to reserve spots in our group fitness classes! This program is user friendly with email reminders about classes, ability to add classes to your calendar, easy participant class cancellations, and so much more! To set up your account please click on “how to sign up for fitness classes” button below and follow the instructions. If you need help setting up your account, please contact the front desk. Before each class you will be asked to check in using a tablet provided by the instructor.

Our Senior fitness classes are on a drop-in basis; there is no pre-registration required.

Weekly Fitness Programs

All weekly fitness programs have a new discounted $10/class drop-in rate thanks to the Howell Recreation Millage. All weekly fitness classes are included for free as part of our Fitness+ Membership at the Oceola Community Center (unless otherwise noted).

Registration is required for all weekly fitness programs and can be done for free online via the calendar below.


Fitness Equipment Demos

1st Tuesday of the month - 10am-11am

Interested in learning how to use a specific piece of fitness equipment at the Oceola Community Center? These educational sessions are available each month and are open to all. Space is limited and registration is required so sign up early to reserve your spot.

Cycling With Amy

February Session: Mondays, February 2nd-23rd - 5:30pm-6:15pm
March Session: Mondays, March 9th - 30th - 5:30pm-6:15pm

  • A high-energy indoor workout on stationery bikes led by an instructor who guides participants through a series of climbs, sprints & speed changes. Set to the instructor's cues and music.

  • Participants are in control of their own bikes' resistance and speed.

  • The class is a low-impact, high-cardio activity that builds muscle strength and cardio endurance.

Deadline to register is February 2nd (Feb Session) and March 9th (March Session).

Pedaling For Parkinson’s

Session 1: Tuesdays / Thursdays, February 3rd - March 19th - 10:00am-11:00am
Session 2: Tuesdays / Thursdays, April 7th - May 14th - 10:00am-11:00am (Registration Opens March 11th)

Pedaling for Parkinson's is informed by research demonstrating that consistent, high-cadence cycling can help reduce symptoms of Parkinson's. Each class is held indoors on stationary bikes and consists of a 5 minute warm-up, 35-45 minute cycle at a cadence of 75-85 rpm and a 3-5 minute cooldown. 

Classes are supportive of all ages and abilities and are filled with fun!

What to expect: Participants should be able to secure their feet in or on the pedals and maintain a safe and suitable body position to stay on the bike throughout the duration of the class. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable exercise clothes and bring a water bottle.

Line Dancing

Wednesdays, February 18th - March 25th - 6pm-7pm
Wednesday, April 8th - May 13th - 6pm-7pm

This fun and energetic class will teach you all the popular line dances from the Boot Scootin’ Boogie to the Watermelon Crawl! We use line dancing as a form of exercise, a way to build community and make friends. It doesn’t require previous experience, just a willingness to try and a smile.

Come and learn the steps first and dance to the Git Up, Shivers, Cupid Shuffle, Fireball, Achy Breaky Heart, Electric Slide and so many more!

Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace, wear comfortable clothes and have a good time.

This playful session combines refreshing yoga flows with light-hearted fun, perfect for those looking to unwind and celebrate the season with a drink in hand. All levels welcome; suitable for beginners and experienced yogis. We will be doing yoga flows while incorporating drinking the beverage of your choice!

Bring your favorite beverage* of choice and join us for a fantastic series of tipsy yoga! Please bring your own mat. Limited mats available.

Hybrid Style One Time CPR Class

Thursday, February 5th - 6pm-8pm

*This class is hybrid, which consists of online learning and videos that must be completed prior to the hands-on, in-person class.*

Howell Recreation offers HSI training and certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED. Our certified instructors are here to prepare you and your workplace with the essential skills needed to help with cardiac arrest, workplace injuries, or safety emergencies. This class will cover Infant, Child and Adult CPR, AED and Adult First Aid.

An email with a link to the online training will be sent 5-7 days prior to the in person class. This email will come directly from HSI. Please allow approx. 3-5 hours to complete the online training. Participants will receive a 2 year certification upon completion of the course.

Sourdough Workshop

Monday, March 16th - 6:00pm-8:00pm

Join us for an educational workshop to learn how to make your own sourdough bread. Bring a large spoon, apron & a mixing bowl. Leave with a loaf in progress, an established sourdough starter in a mason jar, tea towel, & a wealth of knowledge to bake bread & ACHIEVE optimal gut health!

This yoga class is designed specifically for seniors or anyone seeking a safe, supportive, and low-impact way to improve flexibility, strength, and balance. Using a chair for support, participants will perform seated and standing poses that promote mobility, joint health, and relaxation. Breathing exercises and mindfulness techniques are incorporated to reduce stress and enhance overall well-being.
