How do you join the Countryside Veterinary Dog Park?

Step 1 - Create a Howell Recreation account at secure.rec1.com/MI/howell-area-parks-recreation-authority/catalog

Step 2 - Obtain a current dog license and vaccinations.
Dog licenses can be obtained at city, township, or county offices in the Historic County Courthouse in downtown Howell on Grand River.  Current vaccinations that are required to obtain a dog park membership and FOB (keyless entry) are:

  • Rabies

  • DHLPP (distemper)

  • Bordetella

All shot records must include the expiration date.  Contact your vet or the Livingston County Humane Society on Dorr Road for their monthly clinic. You need to bring proof of these items when you register for a dog park pass.  A Paper copy of your dog license is also required.

Step 3 - Complete and sign the appropriate application forms.
These forms are available online by clicking here

Step 4 - Purchase your membership and park entry FOB
With your completed documents (including dog license certificate) and Distemper and Bordetella vaccination/shots record in-hand, you can then purchase your membership and obtain your park entry FOB at the Oceola Community Center located at 1661 N. Latson Rd. in Howell. The cost is $70 for a family and one or two dogs.

The park is located at 400 S. Highlander Way Road, south of W. Grand River, next to the County Dispatch building and in front of the County Animal Control building. Parking is at the rear of the Dispatch building. There are lights throughout the area and a gate where you activate your FOB to release the lock. At that point, you can choose to go left into the "large" dog park or right into the "small" dog park.
