The Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority is gearing up to sponsor a 15-mile ride to remember the wonderful contributions made by Dr. Pay May in helping to establish the Howell Melon Festival many years ago. The "Doc May Memorial Melon Ride" will take place on Saturday, August 16 beginning at the Livingston County Courthouse. The 15-mile route will meander through historic neighborhoods, the McPherson Park bike path, the Crosstown Trail, Howell City Park, Lakeview Cemetery, and the neighborhood on the south side of Thompson Lake. Once we return to the courthouse lawn, we'll treat ourselves to Howell melons and melon ice cream. All riders will receive a route map and a t-shirt.
