5K Training

What is the Howell Parks & Recreation 5K Training?  
We are a 10 week/2 nights a week, supported training program for men and women walkers, walk to runners, and runners of all ages!  The training and clinics will focus on fitness and well-being.

Who is this program for?  
People who are challenged by walking a half mile, those who are comfortable running three miles, and every pace and distance in between.

How much is it and how do I sign up?  
The cost is $75.  You can register online via RunSignUp.

What do I get for that fee?  
All participants will receive a Howell Parks & Recreation Melon Festival water bottle, coaching support, and an invitation to attend two group training sessions each week, an in-store discount coupon for Playmakers, training-related clinics, entry into our goal 5K event, and a weekly
newsletter.

When and where is the training held?  
We will train on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6pm for 10 weeks.  These training sessions are held at the Bennett Recreation Center, 925 W. Grand River Ave in Howell) which will lead up to running a 5K!

5K Training - Melon Run Edition
Coach's meeting is June 2nd.
Training begins  June 6th and is every Tuesday and Friday at 6pm until race day, August 18th.

Beginning Children’s Yoga (Ages 6 & Up)

Have your child learn the very basics with a gentle and fun yoga class designed to enhance relaxation, focus, and flexibility.  
Site: Oceola Community Center, 1661 N. Latson Rd.
Cost: $45 Resident / $55 Howell Twp. / $90 Non-Resident

Essential Oils 101 (All Ages)

Curious about essential oils?  Join us as we discuss the history, science, and many uses of all natural therapeutic grade oils.  In this class you will be able to sample and discuss oils that can help you for your personal needs. Take home samples will be provided to all participants.

Yoga Nut (Ages 4-10)

This course introduces basic yoga poses and breathing techniques that help children of all ages and abilities!  We will explore ways to energize and nourish our bodies using the U.S.D.A’s myplate.gov guidelines.  Students will be encouraged to try new foods and focus on the main food groups before turning to “sometimes” foods.  Students should wear comfortable, loose clothing to enable stretches and bends.  A towel or yoga mat is needed for each session.

Holistic Healing Class (All Ages)

Are you interested in holistic healing and naturopathy but not sure what to do?  Allow a detoxification and cellular regeneration specialist show you the way to true healing on a cellular level.  This class will focus on learning about the great lymphatic system and its relation to true health and whole body wellness.  Topics covered include the lymphatic system, correct foods, botanicals, and iridology.
